While much of the music from the 8-bit era of video games remains in our hearts, more and more great tunes have come out as technology has moved forward. X5, a musical group from Sweden, once worked with the London Philharmonic Orchestra to bring us an album known simply as The Greatest Video Game Music. It looks like the group is back in the game again, but this time, there’s a different twist.

Instead of enlisting the help of an orchestra, X5 has teamed up with an 80-piece choral group to help give them a vocal power they have never reached before. With this new collaboration, new video game music will be covered for a brand new album being called The Greatest Video Game Music: Choral Edition. This album contains songs from such games as Final Fantasy X, Skyrim, The Last of Us, and more. You can check out their version of Final Fantasy X’s “Hymn of the Fayth” on SoundCloud.

X5’s The Greatest Video Game Music: Choral Edition is set to be released on January 29th. Let’s just be thankful the wait won’t be too long for this great product.
