Although the Pokémon GO event at GDC 2016 has been canceled, we’ll most likely see some more news about it soon with a sort of “field test” being done shortly.

“The Pokémon Company and Niantic will be inviting users to field test Pokémon GO in Japan later this month,” the developer said. “The Pokémon GO field test program will give a limited number of users early access to the app. These users will have the opportunity to share early feedback and help improve the Pokémon GO experience for everyone prior to public launch.”

While the field test is restricted currently to only Japan, Niantic stated that the field tests would be expanded eventually to other countries “in the coming weeks.”

The augmented reality game is coming out to Android and iOS eventually. When that eventually is, though, hasn’t been announced yet
