The popular morbidly obese version of Nathan Drake, Donut Drake, will not be making an appearance in Uncharted 4.
Creative Director Neil Druckmann has had differing thoughts on the character now, saying that he “didn’t want to have a laugh at someone’s expense.”
He believes that the team matured past the point of Donut Drake, but that isn’t to say the character wasn’t considered as an addition to Uncharted 4. According to Druckmann he was modeled before they decided to sit down and have a serious conversation regarding Donut Drake. “we had a big debate about it and kind of approached it from all kinds of angles and decided we weren’t comfortable having it in our game.”
It looks like players won’t be using Donut Drake this time, but it is most likely within the studio’s best interest to cut the character. There will of course be back lash from the Donut Drake supporters, but lets be honest here: they are probably a lot more sane then what Naughty Dog could be facing.
