Although Final Fantasy XV’s release date was only released last week, it had been decided on in 2013 according to Siliconera.

The website translated a interview from the magazine Famitsu. Inquiring as to why the release date was September 30th, 2016, Final Fantasy XV Director Hajime Tabata had this to say. “I wasn’t the director at first, but when I was formally entrusted with the duty (in December 2013), ‘September 30, 2016 is when we’ll release it,’ was the first thing that was decided,”

Later on in the interview Tabata discussed how the release date was not randomly decided. “it was something we saw when considering the time and cost for the amount of resources we had.”

Although fans have been waiting for Final Fantasy XV for years, it appears like the company had everything planned ahead of time.

Final Fantasy XV releases September 30th, 2016 for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
