A recent game project on Kickstarter called Kuraz is being developed by Last Name in the Hat. The game’s Kickstarter page advertises the games as “a turn based tactical role-playing game set in a near future setting where the player leads a small band of elite mercenaries against the corporations of the planet.”
The setting is somewhat Alien by way of Shadowrun, set on the planet Kuraz, where illegal deals and monopolization between mega-corporations have run rampant, leaving the populous to fend for themselves . The plot follows a group of soldiers working for the government attempting to take down the corporations.
Rather than a focus on cover-based shooting, though, the game focuses on shield and melee combat. Shields block bullets, but not daggers, meaning that some interesting playstyles can be developed over time as your team of soldiers grows in both abilities and gear.
