Xbox and PlayStation have had a long history of ‘console wars’. Gone are the days of owning both consoles, instead gamers insist on arguing until they are blue in the face over which console is better.

In reality, the Xbox and PlayStation have very few differences besides price point, UI, and console exclusives. Although it’s pretty clear with the lack of graphical jumps that we weren’t ready for a new console generation, that won’t stop the rumours from flooding the internet.

And this time the starter was David Gardner, who is the Visual Design Lead at Xbox. He posted on his LinkedIn profile that he has experience working on ‘Xbox neXt’, which as it turns out was a project name for the Xbox One.

Microsoft released a statement on the ordeal, “‘Xbox neXt’ was an old internal team name for a group that worked on releasing Xbox One and is not related to a future console,”

They had nothing further to say on the issue.
