Battleborn, the colourful MOBA-esque shooter from Gearbox Software, has received a sizeable price drop three weeks after launch and only a day after Overwatch’s release.
The game went on sale on May 3rd in retailers for $60, but has dropped down to $40. Even the Digital Deluxe Edition, which sold for $75, has dropped to $55. You can find the cheaper prices at Amazon, check them out quickly because there’s no guarantee how long the price drop will last.
While the reasoning behind the price drop is to celebrate the release of Battleborn’s first new character, Alani, it’s a safe bet that it also has bit to do with the release of Blizzard’s MOBA-esque shooter, Overwatch, which has garnered a lot of attention in the gaming and… porn communities recently. With the two games sharing more than a few similarities, it’s not surprising that there will be a little bit of competition between the two games.
Game price drops are nothing new but this close to an original release date is a little bit of a red flag, it would be easy to see how some early adopters are feeling a little bit cheated by this, but unfortunately that’s the state of play.
