Devolver Digital has announced Absolver, a new combat RPG from Paris-based developer Sloclap.

In Absolver, players are put into the role of a Prospect. They have been chosen to join the Absolvers, elite combatants who fight to maintain stability in the world. Along the way, players will learn new attacks and combat styles, and acquire better powers and gear.

“The studio is excited to debut our first game with Devolver Digital and get it into the hands of gamers and media at E3; Absolver is the result of our combined experiences in game development and we believe that our team has created something special together,” stated creative lead Pierre de Margerie. “We think the world would be a much better place if there were no guns. Then we could finally focus on important things, like sword fighting and how to kill a man with one punch.”

Battles will be in real-time, and will combine attacks, feints, dodges, and counters. Players will be able to customize combat styles, weapons, and individual attack sequences. Players will be able to experience PvP in dedicated combat arenas, and participate in PvE in the dungeon mines of Adal.

Absolver will release on PC and consoles in 2017. The game will make its debut at E3 next month.
