In the same regard as famous novels 1984 and Brave New World, the original System Shock put players in a futuristic world where everything is not as great as we all would hope. Corrupt corporations rule and are fighting for even more power than they already have. It is time for those who have never had the joy of System Shock to get a chance at this adventure.

Nightdive Studios has finally launched their Kickstarter campaign to fund the reboot of the original game. As part of this launch, the company has also released a small demo on Steam and  GOG. Obviously, this is a pre-alpha demo, so there is a lot that will change, but it still helps to bring on the excitement. It is also very easy to picture this game as a reality considering at the time this article was written, the System Shock reboot raised over $540,000 of the $900,000 they are asking for. With 28 days remaining and more than halfway funded, it seems like it is a fairly safe bet that we could be playing a beautiful new System Shock by December 2017.

As an added bonus, Terri Brosius will once again voice the AI known as SHODAN. With her talent in this title, it will feel like a hauntingly good bit of nostalgia. The story will also be updated a bit by gaming veteran Chris Avellone to touch upon today’s modern issues.

If funded, System Shock will be released for Windows and Xbox One. The first set of stretch goals at $1.1 million will see to Mac and Linux versions as well.
