Marvel has been taking the media by storm. After  years of critical acclaimed TV shows and movies were produced, Marvel is back at it again. After months of suspense and teasers, Marvel’s Jessica Jones arrived on Netflix last month, and it was met with success and acclaim. Now, the Attention has turned to another possible superhero hit, Iron Fist.

Scott Buck will act as showrunner for this series according to Comicbook.com. Buck has an extensive history, he previously worked as a producer on TV shows like Dexter and Six Feet Under. Following Daredevil, Jessica Jones, and the upcoming Luke Cage,  Iron Fist will be the fourth collaboration for Netflix and Marvel.

Expected to air in 2017, a short synopsis was released. According to the synopsis, “Returning to New York City after being missing for years, Daniel Rand fights against the criminal element corrupting New York City with his incredible kung-fu mastery and ability to summon the awesome power of the fiery Iron Fist.” Iron Fist’s hero, Daniel, has a superb origin story. After studying as master Lei Kung’s student, Daniel became one of the most gifted students. Daniel is then given the chance to receive the mystical powers of the Iron Fist by fighting and defeating the dragon Shou-Lao.

Rumored was swirling around earlier this year that the show was facing some development issues. The main issue was how to balance out the character’s mystical elemental powers with the more realistic world of Netflix’s other Marvel shows.  Marvel Television chief, Jeph Loeb has assured all fans that Iron Fist will move ahead and be produced. With the success of all the other collaborations between Netflix and Marvel, fans should anticipate another hit on their hands. This writer certainly cannot wait for 2017  to come.
