Since its release 2 years ago, The Sims 4 fans have been asking for the addition of toddler life stages. However, adding an entirely new life stage to the game would require not only new models, but new animations for all Sims that could interact with them, new items, new audio, among many other large changes to the game. Now, it seems Maxis has officially finished up all of these additions, and the Toddlers patch is available to the public.

“The Biggest Little Update” says a post on the official blog, will be completely free, and those that own the base game will simply need to update.

In the post by SimGuru Lyndsay, MAXIS highlights the importance and difficulty involved in setting up Toddlers, “The Sims 4 base game has always provided a foundation upon which we’ve consistently grown and expanded, and we hope that Toddlers will help to capture those moments of growth and nurturing we’ve seen you share over the years – in addition to highlighting the special bonds between parents and toddlers as they grow. We’ve added over a hundred new animations, dozens of new interactions, and great new suites of outfits and objects. But most importantly, we’ve bridged a really meaningful part of your Sims’ lives.”

Toddlers is now available for download, completely for free, for those who own The Sims 4.
